November 15

No school on Friday, Nov.22. We are starting our new science unit "Testing Materials and Designs". We will be looking for donations of any "unique" pieces of cardboard, such as paper tubes (not toilet paper rolls) or cubes, prisms, etc. The last book orders of the year will be due Nov.21 so that they arrive before Christmas. If you want to purchase a book as a Christmas gift for your child, let me know and I can hold onto the book until you are able to pick it up:  Scholastic Watch for more details coming soon about our holiday concert on Dec.10. Homework: Spelling on Wednesday, Nov.20. Continue to review addition and subtraction basic facts. Quick recall of these facts help students when working with larger numbers. Let me know if you want some suggestions of how to support your child with addition and subtraction at home. As you drive around Calgar

Walk to the Gully

On Tuesday afternoon, Room 5 will have a community field trip to the gully with staff from the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary.  We will be in the gully for most of the afternoon, so students need to dress warmly to be outside.  Thank-you to the volunteers who are coming with us! Please be in the classroom by 12:50 pm so we can head out right away.  This is the first of three walks to the gully this year with the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary where students will learn about seasonal changes in the gully. If you have any questions, please contact me.
