Secret Santa Book Exchange

Hi Parents,

In spirit of the holidays, students in Room 5 will be participating in a Secret Santa Gift Exchange. It will take place on Thursday, December 19. In order to make sure everyone is receiving similar gifts, the students are to get a book of their choice for their Secret Santa. This may be a book you child would like to buy for their Secret Santa or if your child has one they have already read at home and it is in good condition they can gift that. I discussed with the students that if we are going to do a gift exchange everyone must be willing to participate so no one feels left out. If you are unable to purchase or find a book at home, please let me know and I will purchase a book for your child to give to their Secret Santa. Please wrap the book so it looks like a present and if your child would like to make something extra or add a card that would be great!

Today the students wrote down three books they are interested in reading and that they would love to get as a gift from their Secret Santa. We talked about using this list as ideas for the book exchange, but this is optional.

Seeds for Science

Hello parents! If you are outside this weekend/week with your child, please look for seeds to bring in to class next week. Students can look for seeds in the wild or in their yards. We are looking for a wide variety of seeds, so they can also bring in seeds from fruit/vegetables in the kitchen or from seed packets. Please label the seeds in a bag, if you know what type of seeds they are. We will collect the seeds all next week to use during science for our Plant unit this month. Thank-you for your help!

Hello Parents and Students, We hope you are well and have had a relaxing spring break.   For the foreseeable future, together we are traveling into the world of online learning.  We thank you for your ongoing patience as we navigate this new journey and continue to take up the Alberta Program of Studies.  We will be providing learning opportunities & activities soon. Your child’s homeroom teacher will connect with you to discuss your child’s access to technology at home, including access to a computer and the internet.  Teachers will email students/parents or by phone call. We are also making a plan to address the needs of students without these resources and to determine how to support students with paper packages.
